Baby Bows
The children have their own room which is quiet enough for them to rest and sleep and join in the fun.
We assess each child individually on their emotional, social, physical and personal development and discuss with you before moving them from one room to another.
Although we guide this room on being 3-18 months, some children may be ready straight away at 18 months to venture into the next stage room but others may need a little longer and a slower transition and might be needed before they move over. This is something we will always discuss with you along the way and make sure you are happy and little one is ready to make that move.
We hold a variety of activities such as messy play, role play, music, dance and story time, heuristic play, treasure baskets, sensory areas and plenty of play opportunities, indoor and out.
We will focus the children’s next steps around the prime areas of learning: Communication and language, Physical development and personal, social and emotional development.
The babies will take regular trips into our playground area. Most of our babies in these rooms will be making their first steps in terms of walking, talking and feeding themselves and we therefore make every effort to ensure staff and parents are working very closely together.
Your baby will have a Key Person, whose role it is, is to ensure that routines such as nappy changing, feeding and settling to sleep are in place, as well as opportunities for some very important ‘one to one’ learning time, and that these routines are consistent with your routines at home, whilst baby settles into nursery life.
Your baby will enjoy being able to explore:
- A cosy area for resting and exploring books
- Creative play (finger paint, playdough and gloop)
- Treasure baskets filled with natural materials
- Physical play as they become more mobile
Under the Sunshine
At around 18 months, depending on your child’s development, children are gently introduced to the toddler room where they discover new challenges through a variety of structured and unstructured activities
These include emphasis on physical skills and play, art and malleable activities, sensory activities, early maths, introduction to language skills and imaginative play which are key elements of this stage. We encourage learning through the development of communication skills and social skills with their peers, all through the guidance of our experienced and highly trained Nursery Practitioners.
The variety of activities on offer is designed to ensure that children are able to learn effectively through their play. This is done in a fun environment where sand/water/messy play activities are on offer each day – staff use these activities to promote the use of language and expression. Physical activities are a very important part of our day, both indoor and outdoor. Climbing, rolling, running, pushing, crawling, sliding is an everyday event in the outdoor environment. We incorporate early math and language activities into our outdoor provision in a variety of ways, for example picking a numbered wheeled toy and parking it in the corresponding number bay, or choosing a book to share in our dedicated outdoor reading area.
Over the Rainbow
Our pre-schoolers are educated to the highest standards by our well qualified and trained staff. Children are encouraged to learn through play, but also during this important pre-school phase, they are nurtured and challenged to learn with fun and exciting activities. Your children leave us fully prepared to take on their new learning journey as they move into formal schooling. Some of the activities offered will help them to prepare for school such as story time, registration, and our letters and sounds programme
An example of the activities offered include: mark making, Puzzles and problem solving, Creative and expressive arts, Cooking, Playground/circle games, Puppets and understanding emotions, feelings and learning to share. Children can also continue with sensory play, painting, model making, sand a water play, music and singing as this all forms an integral part of nursery life.
